"I think the paradox is truth"
Benjamin Earl Turner delivers a flurry of mental paradox's on this introspective track. The artists's first track in two years, he shows that he has spent these past years doing a lot of self examining.
Turner frames "Headspace" perfectly from the beginning of his only verse : "I think I'm overthinking again" ; this frames the song perfectly. Every single bar, Turner begins with "I think" followed by contradictions and reflections like "think im patient/then a nigga get in traffic start screaming, hollering, raging" and "think im Kobe, think im magic, think im just Gilbert Arenas". I think (lol) this song paints a picture of both ends of the spectrum of a manic mind; one minute you're on top of the world and unstoppable, and the next you are doubting your every decision and who you are as a person. I think headspace delivers this manic energy sonically, as well. Turner delivers these bars frantically over a synth lead that sounds plucked from an Isley Brothers song and warped into present day. I will definitely be keeping an eye on new tracks from turner. Listen here: https://music.apple.com/us/album/headspace/1695951022?i=1695951023
