Los Angeles’s own Sham1016 is back with a fresh EP titled “Sorry Not Sorry”. On the first track, “Been Jointed”, it is very clear from the second the beat begins that Sham106 is proud of his hometown- the quadruple kicks paired with the light snares is distinctly Los Angeles. Sham106 doest stop there though. He again reminds you of his place of residence, stating matter of factly that hes an “LA Nigga like my top down in the winter”. I don't know if this is a comment on climate change and how there are no real seasons in Los Angeles, but I digress. Sham continues the EP with a more romantic track, with the help of Kiilyn on the hook, perfectly complimenting Shams1016’s smooth voice. The guitar melody is reminiscent of a Blxst or Bino Rideaux track, who are also both Los Angeles artists. Shams106 approaches the hook with a soft voice, testing out the singing waters, yet glides on the verses with confidence, as he commonly does throughout the EP. Shams106 ends the EP with “My Uncle Told Me”. This introspective track is built by full, dreamy piano chords paired with string leads that will pull at your heartstrings. I love the punchy kicks on this record, which provide some “oomph” or seriousness to the subject matter at hand. Shams106 recounts life lessons, saying he “cried tears from these lessons but we keep it rolling”. This is a perfect wrap up track for the 4 song EP, where Sham106 shows he can have fun and also be real.
